Apart from the positive publicity this generated, the WEF also deserves credit for effecting the abandonment by the ANC of its bankrupted socialist dogma of nationalisation and central control. It was during discussions with one of his heroes, the Prime Minister of Vietnam, that the South African statesman learned economic ideas they’d both shared and held so dear didn’t work in the modern world.
